3 Attach the interface connector of your CLIÉ

handheld straight onto the docking connector

of the keyboard.

4 Turn on your CLIÉ handheld.

If necessary, you can connect the AC power adapter to this

compact keyboard. Use the AC power adapter supplied with

your CLIÉ handheld.

For details on how to operate or type with this compact

keyboard, click [View Manual] on the menu screen of the

supplied CD-ROM, then refer to the "Keyboard Help List" and

the supplied "Key Layout Sheet."

Note

If you set "System Sound" on your CLIÉ handheld, it works for both your

CLIÉ handheld and the compact keyboard. For details on changing the

system sound, refer to the operating instructions of your CLIÉ handheld.

Cautions

Be sure to use the keyboard on a level surface. Using the keyboard on an

uneven surface, such as your lap, may cause the keyboard to bend slightly

at the center and cause a malfunction.

Do not pull your CLIÉ handheld toward you when your CLIÉ handheld

is attached to the keyboard, as it may break the docking connector and

cause a malfunction.

Before attaching your CLIÉ handheld to the keyboard, make sure that the

PDA foot is fully extended to facilitate proper connection. Otherwise, a

malfunction may occur.

While using the keyboard, do not pull or detach your CLIÉ handheld

from the docking connector of the keyboard, as it may cause a

malfunction.

Use your stylus to select an item from a list or menu, and for operations

that are not performed by the keyboard.

The Num Lk key set on the compact keyboard does not work for the

on-screen keyboard of your CLIÉ handheld. The Num Lk key must be set

individually on each keyboard.

Do not force the keyboard open beyond 180 degrees (fully open), as it

may cause a malfunction.

After use

Cautions

When detaching your CLIÉ handheld, pull it straight out from the

docking connector of the keyboard. If you detach your CLIÉ handheld in

the wrong direction, the docking connector or the PDA foot may break

and cause a malfunction.

Avoid touching the metal part of the docking connector when pushing the

connector downward, as it may cause a malfunction.

1 Turn off your CLIÉ handheld.

Unplug the AC power adapter if you are using it for the compact

keyboard.

2 Detach your CLIÉ handheld from the docking

connector.

When detaching your CLIÉ handheld from the keyboard, be

sure to pull it straight out from the keyboard. Otherwise it may

break the PDA foot and cause a malfunction.

3 Push the docking connector downward (1), then

retract the PDA foot into the keyboard (2).

4 Close the keyboard.

Fold the keyboard at the center, then bring the edges together

until they click.

Caution

When closing the keyboard, do not push the keys inside, as it may cause a

malfunction.

Customizing the keyboard

Assigning CLIÉ handheld application

shortcuts to number keys

You can assign application shortcuts to any of the number keys (0-9)

in the upper part of the compact keyboard.

1 Turn on your CLIÉ handheld.

2 Press the HOME/MENU button on your CLIÉ

handheld.

Or depending on your CLIÉ handheld, tap the Home icon in the

screen.

The Home screen appears.

3 Tap the [KB Utility] icon.

The Key settings screen appears.

4 Tap V next to any Cmd+number key ([Cmd+0]

through [Cmd+9]).

The application items are displayed in the pop-up menu.

5 Tap any desired application item in the pop-

up menu.

The desired application of your CLIÉ handheld is assigned to

the number key.

Testing the application shortcut function with this compact

keyboard

Press and hold the "Cmd" key and the number key (0-9) assigned to the

desired application simultaneously.

If the application does not start properly, follow all the steps for assigning the

application shortcut key again.

Changing the key layout

You can change the key layout of the keyboard.

1 Turn on your CLIÉ handheld.

2 Press the HOME/MENU button on your CLIÉ

handheld.

Or depending on your CLIÉ handheld, tap the Home icon in the

screen.

The Home screen appears.

3 Tap the [KB Utility] icon.

The Key settings screen appears.

4 Tap V next to Key Type.

The key type items appear in the pop-up menu.

5 Tap the desired key type item in the pop-up

menu.

The key type is set.

To return to the Home screen:

-- Press the HOME/MENU button on your CLIÉ handheld.

Or depending on your CLIÉ handheld, tap the Home icon on

the screen.

-- On the compact keyboard, press the "Date (Home)"

key and the "Fn" key simultaneously.

Viewing the Keyboard Help

You can view the explanation for main terms and functions, and

keyboard shortcuts.

1 Turn on your CLIÉ handheld.

2 Press the HOME/MENU button on your CLIÉ

handheld.

Or depending on your CLIÉ handheld, tap the Home icon in the

screen.

The Home screen appears.

3 Tap the [KB Utility] icon.

The Key settings screen appears.

4 Tap [KB Utility] in the top left-hand corner of

the screen.

The items are displayed in the pop-up menu.

5 Tap [Keyboard Help] in the pop-up menu.

The Keyboard Help screen appears.

Tip

You can also view the Keyboard Help screen by pressing the K key while

pressing the Ctrl key on the keyboard.

For details on how to operate or type with this compact

keyboard, click [View Manual] on the menu screen of the

supplied CD-ROM, then refer to the "Keyboard Help List" and

the supplied "Key Layout Sheet."

6 Tap [OK] to close the Keyboard Help screen.

To return to the Home screen:

-- Press the HOME/MENU button on your CLIÉ handheld.

Or depending on your CLIÉ handheld, tap the Home icon on

the screen.

-- On the compact keyboard, press the "Date (Home)"

key and the "Fn" key simultaneously.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens when you type on the keyboard.

- Check that your CLIÉ handheld is charged.

- Make sure that your CLIÉ handheld is connected to the keyboard

correctly.

- Confirm that Keyboard Utility for this keyboard is installed

properly.

A HotSync operation cannot be performed when you connect

this keyboard to your CLIÉ handheld.

-You cannot use this keyboard as a cradle for your CLIÉ handheld.

To perform a HotSync operation, remove the keyboard, and attach

a cradle to your CLIÉ handheld.

The power of your CLI

É handheld turns on or the HotSync

screen appears when you connect this keyboard to your CLI

handheld.

- If your CLIÉ handheld is not properly connected to the keyboard,

the power of your CLIÉ handheld may turn on or the HotSync

screen may appear. To reconnect your CLIÉ handheld to the

keyboard; tap [Cancel] to end the HotSync operation, then turn off

your CLIÉ handheld and detach it from the docking connector.

Keyboard operation suddenly stops.

- The keyboard may not function if you perform a soft reset when

the keyboard is connected to your CLIÉ handheld. Disconnect the

keyboard before performing a soft reset on your CLIÉ handheld.

Do not connect the keyboard to your CLIÉ handheld while it is

restarting.

Notes on use

· Do not subject the keyboard to:

Extreme heat or cold

Dust, dirt, or sand

High humidity

Vibration

Strong magnetic fields

Mechanical shock

Direct sunlight (for extended periods of time)

· Do not drop the keyboard.

· Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the

docking connector of the keyboard. If this happens, a short

circuit may occur and the keyboard may be damaged.

· Do not operate the keyboard if it has been dropped or damaged.

· Do not attach an AC power adapter with a damaged cord to the

keyboard.

· Always keep the metal contacts clean.

· Do not disassemble or modify the keyboard.

· While the keyboard is in use, it gets warm. This is normal.

· Do not carry the keyboard with your CLIÉ handheld attached.

Before carrying, detach your CLIÉ handheld first.

· Use the keyboard on a level surface.

· If the keyboard does not work, detach your CLIÉ handheld from

the keyboard, then attach the interface connector of your CLIÉ

handheld to the docking connector of the keyboard again.

· Be careful not to spill liquids, such as water, juice, or other soft

drinks onto the keyboard.

Cleaning

Clean the keyboard with a soft, dry cloth or a soft cloth lightly

moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of

solvent, such as alcohol or benzine, which may damage the finish.

This compact keyboard is designed only for use with a CLIÉ

handheld, and has the following features:

· Easy input of text and special characters

· Easy launch of applications by simple key operation

· Foldaway, pocket-size keyboard, providing good portability

To display the "Date Book"/"Address"/"To Do List"/"Memo

Pad" screen, press the relevant application key.

If you press the "Fn" key and an application key simultaneously,

the "Home"/"Menu"/"Calculator"/"Find" screen appears.

If you have changed an application assigned to an application

button on your CLIÉ handheld, that application will be

launched.

To lean your CLIÉ handheld against, after attaching it to the

docking connector (4).

Installing the software

Before using the keyboard, you have to install Keyboard Utility on

your CLIÉ handheld. To install Keyboard Utility, use the CD-ROM

supplied with this compact keyboard.

Before installation

Check the following;

· You need a Windows compatible computer, on which the Palm

Desktop application suitable for your CLIÉ handheld is already

installed. Then, connect the computer to your CLIÉ handheld to

make sure that the HotSync operation is correctly performed on

both your computer and CLIÉ handheld. For details, refer to the

operating instructions supplied with your CLIÉ handheld.

· If any other keyboard application is already installed, disable or

turn off the application.

· Make sure that your CLIÉ handheld has a minimum of 300 KB

free memory. For details on checking memory amount, refer to

the operating instructions of your CLIÉ handheld.

1 Insert the supplied CD-ROM into the CD-ROM

drive of your computer.

The installer starts and the initial screen for installation appears.

2 Click the same language as the one used on

your CLIÉ handheld.

Select the same language as the one used on your CLIÉ

handheld, otherwise characters may become garbled.

3 Click [Install] next to Keyboard Utility.

The installer submenu appears.

4 Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed

with the keyboard utility installation.

If more than one user name is registered, select your user name

from the user list.

5 Click [Done].

6 Click [Exit].

7 Perform a HotSync operation with your CLIÉ

handheld.

This HotSync operation is to transfer Keyboard Utility from your

computer to your CLIÉ handheld.

Make sure that the keyboard icon appears on the Home screen of

your CLIÉ handheld.

Note

If the keyboard icon does not appear on the Home screen of your CLIÉ

handheld, repeat all the steps (1 to 7) to complete the software installation.

Getting started

Using the keyboard with your

CLIÉ handheld

1 Push the latch down to open the keyboard.

Open the keyboard and set it on a firm, level surface.

2 Slide the PDA foot out of the keyboard (1)

and pull up the PDA foot (2), then pull the

docking connector upward (3).

Caution

Avoid touching the metal part of the docking connector when pulling the

connector upward, as it may cause a malfunction.

3 Abaissez le connecteur de synchronisation (1), puis

rétractez le pied PDA dans le clavier (2).

4 Refermez le clavier.

Pliez le clavier en son milieu, puis rapprochez les deux bords

jusqu'à ce qu'ils s'encliquettent.

Attention

Lors de la fermeture du clavier, ne poussez pas les touches à l'intérieur

car ceci pourrait entraîner un dysfonctionnement.

Personnalisation du clavier

Affectation de raccourcis des applications

CLIÉ aux touches numériques

Vous pouvez affecter des raccourcis aux touches numériques (0-9)

situées dans la partie supérieure du clavier.

1 Mettez votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ sous

tension.

2 Appuyez sur la touche HOME/MENU de votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Ou, selon votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ, effleurez l'icône

Applications sur l'écran.

L'écran d'accueil apparaît.

3 Effleurez l'icône [KB Utility].

L'écran de paramétrage des touches apparaît.

4 Effleurez V à côté de l'une des touches

Cmd+numéro ([Cmd+0] à [Cmd+9]).

Les options des applications sont affichées dans le menu

contextuel.

5 Effleurez l'application de votre choix dans le

menu contextuel.

L'application de votre choix de l'ordinateur CLIÉ est affectée à la

touche numérique.

Pour revenir à l'écran d'accueil :

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Ou, selon votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ, effleurez l'icône

-- Sur le clavier compact, appuyez simultanément sur la

touche « Date (Applications) » et la touche « Fn ».

Test de la fonction raccourci d'application avec ce clavier

compact

Appuyez simultanément sur la touche « Cmd » et la touche numérique (0-9)

affectée à l'application de votre choix et maintenez-les enfoncées.

Si l'application ne démarre pas correctement, suivez de nouveau toutes les

étapes pour créer des raccourcis d'application.

1 Insérez le CD-ROM fourni dans le lecteur de

CD-ROM de votre ordinateur.

Le programme d'installation démarre et l'écran initial

d'installation apparaît.

2 Cliquez sur la même langue que celle utilisée

Sélectionnez la même langue que celle utilisée sur votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ, sinon les caractères risquent d'être

altérés.

3 Cliquez sur [Installer] à côté de l'utilitaire pour

clavier.

Le sous-menu du programme d'installation apparaît.

4 Suivez les instructions à l'écran pour effectuer

l'installation de Utilitaire pour clavier.

Si plusieurs utilisateurs sont enregistrés, sélectionnez votre nom

dans la liste.

5 Cliquez sur [Terminé].

6 Cliquez sur [Quitter].

7 Lancez une opération HotSync avec votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Cette opération consiste à transférer l'utilitaire pour clavier de

votre ordinateur à l'ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Vérifiez que l'icône du clavier apparaît bien sur l'écran d'accueil

de votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Remarque

Si l'icône du clavier n'apparaît pas sur l'écran d'accueil de votre ordinateur

de poche CLIÉ, reprenez toutes les étapes (1 à 7) pour procéder à l'installation

du logiciel.

Démarrage

à l'aide du clavier avec votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ

1 Abaissez le loquet pour ouvrir le clavier.

Ouvrez le clavier et posez-le sur une surface stable et

horizontale.

2 Tirez le pied PDA du clavier (1) et redressez-

le (2), puis relevez le connecteur de

synchronisation (3).

Attention

Évitez de toucher la partie métallique du connecteur de synchronisation

lorsque vous le relevez, car ceci pourrait entraîner un dysfonctionnement.

3 Raccordez le connecteur d'interface de votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ directement au

connecteur de synchronisation du clavier.

4 Mettez votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ sous

tension.

Le cas échéant, vous pouvez brancher l'adaptateur secteur à ce

clavier compact. Utilisez l'adaptateur secteur fourni avec votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Pour plus de détails sur le fonctionnement ou la saisie des

caractères de ce clavier compact, cliquez sur [Afficher le manuel]

sur l'écran de menu du CD-ROM fourni, puis reportez-vous à la

« Liste d'aide du clavier » et à la « Disposition des touches »

fournies.

Remarque

Si vous réglez « Son du système » sur votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ, cela

s'applique à votre CLIÉ, ainsi qu'au clavier compact. Pour plus de détails sur

le changement du son du système, reportez-vous au mode d'emploi de votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Attention

· Vérifiez que vous utilisez le clavier sur une surface horizontale. Si vous

l'utilisez sur une autre surface, par exemple sur vos genoux, il peut être

légèrement courbé en son milieu, ce qui risque de provoquer un

dysfonctionnement.

· Ne tirez pas l'ordinateur de poche CLIÉ vers vous quand il est installé sur

le clavier, car vous risquez de casser le connecteur de synchronisation et

de provoquer un dysfonctionnement.

· Avant de raccorder votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ au clavier, vérifiez

que le pied PDA est entièrement sorti pour faciliter son raccordement

correct. Sinon, un dysfonctionnement est possible.

· Pendant l'utilisation du clavier, ne tirez pas ou n'enlevez pas l'ordinateur

de poche CLIÉ du connecteur de synchronisation du clavier, car vous

risquez de provoquer un dysfonctionnement.

· Utilisez votre stylet pour sélectionner une option dans la liste ou le menu

et pour les opérations qui ne sont pas exécutées à l'aide du clavier.

· La touche de verrouillage du pavé numérique du clavier est inopérante

pour le clavier à l'écran de votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ. La touche de

verrouillage du pavé numérique doit être réglée séparément sur chaque

clavier.

Installation du logiciel

Avant de pouvoir utiliser le clavier, vous devez d'abord installer

l'utilitaire pour clavier sur votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ. Pour

installer l'utilitaire pour clavier, utilisez le CD-ROM fourni avec ce

clavier compact.

Avant de procéder à l'installation

Vérifiez les points suivants :

· Vous devez disposer d'un ordinateur compatible Windows

comportant déjà l'application Palm Desktop correspondant à

votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ. Ensuite, raccordez l'ordinateur

à l'ordinateur de poche CLIÉ pour vérifier que l'opération

HotSync s'exécute correctement sur l'ordinateur et sur

l'ordinateur de poche CLIÉ. Pour plus de détails, reportez-vous

au mode d'emploi fourni avec l'ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Modification du type de clavier

Vous pouvez modifier le type de clavier.

1 Mettez votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ sous

tension.

2 Appuyez sur la touche HOME/MENU de votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Ou, selon votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ, effleurez l'icône

Applications sur l'écran.

L'écran d'accueil apparaît.

3 Effleurez l'icône [KB Utility].

L'écran de paramétrage des touches apparaît.

4 Effleurez V à côté du type de touche.

Les options de clavier sont affichées dans le menu contextuel.

5 Effleurez le type de clavier de votre choix

dans le menu contextuel.

Le type de clavier est paramétré.

Pour revenir à l'écran d'accueil :

-- Appuyez sur la touche HOME/MENU de votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

Ou, selon votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ, effleurez l'icône

Ou, selon votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ, effleurez l'icône

L'écran d'accueil apparaît.

3 Effleurez l'icône [KB Utility].

L'écran de paramétrage des touches apparaît.

4 Effleurez [KB Utility] dans le coin supérieur

gauche de l'écran.

Les options sont affichées dans le menu contextuel.

5 Effleurez [Aide clavier] dans le menu

contextuel.

L'écran d'Aide du clavier apparaît.

Conseil

Vous pouvez également voir l'écran d'aide du clavier en appuyant

simultanément sur les touches K et Ctrl du clavier.

6 Effleurez [OK] pour fermer l'écran d'Aide du

clavier.

Guide de dépannage

Rien ne se produit quand vous tapez sur le clavier.

-Vérifiez que votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ est rechargé.

-Vérifiez que votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ est correctement

raccordé au clavier.

-Vérifiez que l'utilitaire pour clavier est correctement installé.

L'opération HotSync est impossible quand vous raccordez ce

clavier à votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

-Vous ne pouvez pas utiliser ce clavier comme socle pour votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ. Pour effectuer une opération HotSync,

retirez le clavier, puis connectez un socle à votre ordinateur CLIÉ.

L'ordinateur de poche CLIÉ se met sous tension ou l'écran

HotSync apparaît lorsque vous raccordez ce clavier à votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

- Si votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ n'est pas raccordé correctement

au clavier, votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ peut se mettre hors

tension ou l'écran HotSync s'afficher. Pour rebrancher votre

ordinateur de poche CLIÉ au clavier, appuyez sur [Annuler] pour

mettre fin à l'opération HotSync, puis mettez votre ordinateur de

poche hors tension et débranchez-le du connecteur de

synchronisation.

Le clavier s'arrête brusquement de fonctionner.

- Il se peut que le clavier ne fonctionne pas si vous procédez à une

réinitialisation logicielle, alors qu'il est raccordé à votre ordinateur

de poche CLIÉ. Débranchez le clavier avant de procéder à une

réinitialisation logicielle sur votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ. Ne

branchez pas le clavier à votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ pendant

le redémarrage.

Remarques concernant

l'utilisation

· Ne soumettez pas le clavier à des environnements :

Extrêmement chauds ou froids

Sales, poussiéreux, sablonneux

Extrêmement humides

Soumis à des vibrations

Soumis à des champs magnétiques

Soumis à des chocs mécaniques

Exposés au rayonnement direct du soleil (pendant des

périodes prolongées)

· Ne laissez pas tomber le clavier.

· Aucun objet métallique ne doit entrer en contact avec le

connecteur de synchronisation du clavier. Si cela arrive, un

court-circuit risque de se produire et d'endommager le clavier.

· N'utilisez pas le clavier si celui-ci est tombé ou est endommagé.

· Ne raccordez pas au clavier un adaptateur secteur avec un

cordon endommagé.

· Gardez toujours les contacts métalliques bien propres.

· Vous ne devez pas désassembler ni convertir l'appareil.

· En cours de fonctionnement, l'appareil chauffe. C'est tout à fait

normal.

· Ne transportez pas le clavier avec votre ordinateur de poche

CLIÉ installé dessus. Avant de le transporter, débranchez

d'abord votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ.

· Utilisez le clavier sur une surface horizontale.

· Si l'appareil ne fonctionne pas, enlevez votre ordinateur de

poche CLIÉ du clavier, puis branchez de nouveau le connecteur

d'interface de votre ordinateur de poche CLIÉ au connecteur de

synchronisation du clavier.

· Ne répandez pas de liquides, tels que jus de fruit, eau ou boisson

gazeuse, sur le clavier.

Nettoyage

Nettoyez l'appareil avec un chiffon doux et sec ou un chiffon

légèrement humidifié à l'aide d'une solution détergente neutre.

N'utilisez aucun type de solvant comme de l'alcool ou de benzène,

qui risque d'abîmer la finition du boîtier.
