WHAT'S IN THE BOX

BEFORE USE

Thank you for buying this Pioneer product.

Please read through these operating instructions so you will

know how to operate your model properly. After you have finished

reading the instructions, put them away in a safe place for future

reference.

· The nominal impedance of this speaker system is 8

. Connect

the speaker system to an amplifier with a load impedance

ranging from 4

to 16 (a model with "4 to 16 "displayed

on the speaker output terminals).

· In order to prevent damage to the speaker system resulting

from input overload, please observe the following precautions:

Do not supply power to the speaker system in excess of the

maximum permissible input.

When using a graphic equalizer to emphasize loud sounds

in the high-frequency range, do not use excessive amplifier

volume.

Do not try to force a low-powered amplifier to produce loud

volumes of sound (the amplifier's harmonic distortion will

be increased, and you may damage the speaker).

Any connection or switching on or off of part of the audio

system (CD player, tuner etc.) must be carried out after

switching off the amplifier or at least with the loudspeaker

outlets disconnected (if the amplifier allows). Interference

caused by these operations will otherwise reach the

speakers and may damage the treble loudspeaker units.

· Avoid touching the diaphragms and suspensions of

loudspeakers as they are fragile.

INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS

· Do not install these units near a stove or other heating

appliance, or put them in a place exposed to the sun. Such

locations may cause the cabinet to change color and the

speaker system to break down.

· Do not place the speaker on an unstable surface. It could

present a hazard if it falls, as well as damaging the equipment.

· Do not install your speakers overhead on the ceiling or wall. If

improperly attached, the speaker grille can fall and cause

damage or personal injury.

· For optimum sound reproduction of high frequencies, the

treble loudspeaker units must be at the same height as the

listener's ears. For low frequencies, it is possible to increase

the level of bass sounds by positioning the speakers close to a

wall (the maximum increase being obtained for a position in a

corner of the listening room).

· This speaker system is magnetically shielded. However,

depending on the installation location, color distortion may

occur if the speaker system is installed extremely close to the

screen of a television set.

If this happens, turn the power switch of the television set OFF,

and turn it ON after 15 to 30 minutes. If the problem persists,

place the speaker system away from the television set.

INSTALLING FEET AND NON-SKID PADS

Please note that a medium-sized Phillips screwdriver is required

for assembly.

1 Attach the non-skid pads to the feet.

The indented surface of the feet is the base. As shown in the

illustration, attach the non-skid pads to each corner on the base

of the feet. Attach one non-skid pad to each foot.

2 Attach the feet to the speaker.

Be sure to use the supplied screws (M4 x L25) to secure the feet

to the speaker. Use two screws for each foot.

· Installing the feet while the speaker is tilted is very dangerous.

Be sure to place the unit on a soft area (such as a blanket) so

that it does not damage the floor, and carry out the installation

with at least two people.

· Pioneer is not responsible for any accidents or damage that

result from improper installation, misuse or modification of

the product, or natural disasters.

CONNECTING YOUR SYSTEM

Make sure all equipment is turned off before making any

connections.

· Correct wiring of your loudspeakers is essential for achieving

the best sound quality. Be careful to ensure proper polarity of

connection.

1 Make sure your amplifier is switched off.

2 Twist and pull off the protective shields on each wire.

3 Connect one end of the speaker cord to the speaker

terminals.

Loosen the two terminal knobs so that you can insert the exposed

speaker wire through the hole in the terminal post. Tighten the

knobs to secure the speaker cord.

4 Connect the other end of the speaker cord to the

amplifier terminals.

To connect a terminal, unscrew the terminal a few turns until

there is enough space to insert the exposed wire. Once the wire

is in position, tighten the terminal until the wire is firmly

clamped.

· After connecting the plugs, pull lightly on the cables to make

sure that the ends of the cables are securely connected to the

terminals. Poor connections can create noise and

interruptions in the sound.

· If the cables' wires happen to be pushed out of the terminals,

allowing the wires to come into contact with each other, it

places an excessive additional load on the amp. This may cause

the amp to stop functioning, and may even damage the amp.

· When using a set of speakers connected to an amplifier, you

won't be able to obtain the normal stereo effect if the polarity

(+, ) of one of the speakers (left or right) is reversed.

DETATCHING AND REPLACING THE FRONT

GRILLE

The front grille of this speaker system is removable. Proceed as

follows:

1 Grab the bottom of the grille, and gently pull it toward you

to remove the bottom portion.

2 Next, grab the top part of the grille and gently pull it

toward you to remove the top portion.

3 To install the grille, align the projections on the speaker

with the six receptacles in the grille and push them into

place.

CABINET MAINTENANCE

Use a polishing cloth or dry cloth to wipe off dust and dirt.

When the cabinet is very dirty, clean with a soft cloth dipped in

some neutral cleanser diluted five or six times with water, and then

wipe again with a dry cloth. Do not use furniture wax or cleaners.

Never use thinners, benzine, insecticide sprays and other chemicals

on or near the cabinets, since these will corrode the surfaces.

· Para evitar daños en el sistema de altavoces debido a una

sobrecarga de entrada, tenga presente las precauciones

siguientes:

No aplique potencia al sistema de altavoces si excede la

entrada máxima permisible.

Cuando emplee un ecualizador gráfico para acentuar los

sonidos altos de la gama de agudos, no aplique un volumen

excesivo del amplificador.

No trate de forzar a un amplificador de poca potencia para

que produzca altos volúmenes de sonido (se incrementaría

la distorsión armónica del amplificador, y podría dañarse el

altavoz).

Antes de enchufar, conectar o desconectar la corriente de

uno de los elementos del equipo (lector de CD,

sintonizador...), desconecte la alimentación del

amplificador o corte los conectores de altavoces (posible en

algunos amplificadores). Así evitará la transmisión de

ruidos parásitos producidos por estas manipulaciones a los

altavoces, que podrían dañar los difusores de agudos.

· Las membranas y las suspensiones de los altavoces son

delicadas. Evite tocarlas.

MEDIDAS DE PRECAUCIÓN DURANTE LA

INSTALACIÓN

· Ni instale estas unidades cerca de una estufa o cualquier otro

aparato de calefacción, ni las exponga a la luz del sol. Si lo

hace, las cajas de los altavoces se podrían decolorar y las

propias unidades se podría deteriorar.

· No ponga el altavoz sobre una superficie inestable. Correría el

peligro de caídas, pudiendo ocasionar heridas y daños en el

equipo.

· No instale los altavoces en una posición elevada ni en la

pared. La rejilla de altavoz, si se monta incorrectamente,

puede caerse y ocasionar daños o heridas personales.

· Para obtener la mejor reproducción sonora posible de las altas

frecuencias es importante colocar los altavoces de agudos al

nivel de los oídos de la persona que escucha. Para las bajas

frecuencias, el nivel de graves puede elevarse colocando la

caja de altavoces cerca de una pared (la máxima diferencia se

obtiene instalando los altavoces en una de las esquinas del

cuarto donde escucha).

· El sistema del altavoz tiene protección magnética. Sin

embargo, dependiendo del lugar de instalación, pueden

producirse distorsiones de color en la pantalla del televisor si

los sistemas de altavoces están cerca de él.

Si así sucede, apague el televisor, y vuélvalo a encender

después de 15 minutos a 30 minutos. Si el problema persiste,

aparte del televisor el sistema del altavoz.

INSTALACIÓN DE LAS PATAS Y DE LAS

ALMOHADILLAS ANTIDESLIZANTES

Tenga presente que para realizar el montaje necesitará un

destornillador de cabeza en cruz de tamaño mediano.

1 Coloque las almohadillas antideslizantes en las patas.

La superficie dentada de las patas es la base. Fije las

almohadillas antideslizantes en cada esquina de la base de los

pies como se muestra en la ilustración. Fije una almohadilla

antideslizante en cada pata.

2 Fije las patas al altavoz.

Utilice sin falta los tornillos suministrados (M4 x L25) para fijar

las patas de altavoz. Utilice dos tornillos para cada pata.

· Es muy peligroso instalar las patas mientras el altavoz está

inclinado. Asegúrese de poner la unidad sobre un lugar

blando (como pueda ser una manta) para que no se dañe el

piso, y de efectuar la instalación entre dos personas como

mínimo.

· Pioneer no se hace responsable de accidentes o daños como

consecuencia de una instalación incorrecta, manipulación

indebida o por las modificaciones del producto, así como

tampoco debido a desastres naturales.

CONEXIÓN DEL SISTEMA

Antes de realizar ninguna conexión, asegúrese de que el equipo

está apagado.

· El cableado correcto de sus altavoces es esencial para obtener

la mejor calidad de sonido. Asegúrese de utilizar las

polaridades correctas durante las conexiones.

1 Asegúrese de que el amplificador está encendido.

2 Gire y tire de los revestimientos de cada cable.

3 Conecte un extremo del cable de altavoz a los terminales

del altavoz.

Afloje las perillas de los dos tornillas para poder insertar los

conductores trenzados por el orificio del terminal. Apriete las

perillas para fijar el cable del altavoz.

4 Conecte el otro extremo del cable de altavoz a los

terminales del amplificador.

Para conectar un terminal, desatornille el terminal unas cuantas

vueltas hasta que haya espacio suficiente para insertar el cable

expuesto. Una vez que el cable esté en posición, apriete el

terminal hasta que el cable quede firmemente asegurado.

· Después de haber efectuado la conexión tire ligeramente del

cable para asegurar la seguridad y solidez de la conexión. Las

conexiones defectuosas pueden ocasionar ruido e

interrupción del sonido.

· Si los hilos de los cables salen de los terminales y entran en

contacto entre sí, el amplificador recibirá una carga adicional

excesiva. Esto puede hacer que el amplificador deje de

funcionar y incluso pueda dañarse.

· Cuando emplee un juego de altavoces conectados a un

amplificador, no podrá obtener el efecto estéreo normal si se

ha invertido la polaridad (+, ) de uno de los altavoces

(izquierdo o derecho).

SEPARACIÓN Y COLOCACIÓN DE LA

REJILLA FRONTAL

La rejilla frontal de este sistema de altavoces es extraíble. Lleve a

cabo lo siguiente:

1 Tome la rejilla por la parte inferior y tire con cuidado hacia

usted para que se separe la parte inferior.

2 Luego, tome la rejilla por la parte superior y tire con

cuidado hacia usted para que se separe la parte superior.

3 Para instalar la rejilla, alinee los salientes del altavoz con

los seis receptáculos de la rejilla, y empújelos para que

queden en su sitio.

MANTENIMIENTO DE LAS CAJAS

Use una gamuza o un paño secos para limpiar el polvo y la

suciedad.

Si las cajas están muy sucias, limpie con un paño suave mojado

en una solución neutra diluida cinco o seis veces en agua y

estrujado, y pase luego un paño seco. No utilice cera para

muebles ni productos de limpieza.

No utilice nunca disolventes, bencina ni insecticida en spray u

otros químicos sobre las cajas o cerca de ellas, ya que se puede

corroer la superficie.

Por estos terminales de altavoz circula

que es PELIGROSA. Para evitar el peligro de descargas

eléctricas al conectar o desconectar los cables de

altavoz, desenchufe el cable de alimentación antes de

tocar las partes de los cables que no están aisladas.
