QUICK START MANUAL
DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER
For your records
Record the serial number, found on the back of the unit, in the spaces designated on the
warranty card, and in the space provided below. Refer to the model and serial numbers
whenever you call upon your dealer for information or service on this product.

instructions should be adhered to.
Follow Instructions ­ All operating and use instructions should be
followed.
1. Cleaning ­ Unplug this product from the wall outlet before
cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a
damp cloth for cleaning.
2. Attachments ­ Do not use attachments not recommended
by the product manufacturer as they may cause hazards.
3. Water and Moisture ­ This product shall not be exposed to
dripping and splashing ­ for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl,
kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a wet basement; or near a swim-
ming pool; and the like.
4. Accessories ­ Do not place this product on an unstable cart,
stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The product may fall, causing seri-
ous injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the product.
Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended
by the manufacturer. Any mounting of the product should follow
the manufacturer's instructions, and should use a mounting ac-
cessory recommended by the manufacturer.
A product and cart combination should be moved
with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven
surfaces may cause the product and cart combina-
tion to overturn.
5. Ventilation ­ Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided
for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and
to protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be
blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by
placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.
This product should not be placed in a built-in installation such as
a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided or the
manufacturer's instructions have been adhered to.
6. Power Sources ­ This product should be operated only from
the type of power source indicated on the product. If you are not
sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your prod-
uct dealer or local power company.
7. Power Cord Protection ­ Power-supply cords should be routed
so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items
placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords
at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit
from the product.
8. Lightning ­ For added protection for this product during a light-
ning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long pe-
riods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the
antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product
due to lightning and power-line surges.
9. Overloading ­ Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords,
or integral convenience receptacles as this can result in a risk of
fire or electric shock.

10.Object and Liquid Entry ­ Never push objects of any kind
into this product through openings as they may touch dangerous
voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or elec-

opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous volt-
age or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service per-
sonnel.
12.Damage Requiring Service ­ Unplug this product from the
wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under
the following conditions:
a) When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged,
b) If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the
product,
c) If the product has been exposed to rain or water,
d) If the product does not operate normally by following the
operating instructions.
e) If the product has been dropped or damaged in any way,
and
f) When the product exhibits a distinct change in perform-
ance ­ this indicates a need for service.
g) If an abnormal smell or smoke is detected.
13.Replacement Parts ­ When replacement parts are required,
be sure the service technician has used replacement parts speci-
fied by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as
the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire,
electric shock, or other hazards.
14.Safety Check ­ Upon completion of any service or repairs
to this product, ask the service technician to perform safety
checks to determine that the product is in proper operating
condition.
15.Wall or Ceiling Mounting ­ This product should be mounted
to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.
16.Heat ­ This product should be situated away from heat
sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other prod-
ucts that produce heat. Do not place a flaming object, such as
a candle or lantern, or near the product.
17.Power Lines ­ An outside antenna system should not be
located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric
light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power
lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system,
extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power

If steps 3 to 5 are performed in the middle of
playback, the current playback is stopped and

select a item ([ARTIST], [ALBUM],
[GENRE] or [FOLDER]), and press the
multi-control (Right) button.
Pressing the multi-control (Up/Down) button
deeply scrolls the displayed items at a high
speed.

POINT :
¶ When the played item contains multiple
audio data or after playback is stopped
completely, it may take a few seconds
before playback starts after the multi-
control (Center) button is pressed.
¶ When about 3 minutes have passed after
playback has paused, the player will auto-
matically turn off the power.

playback, press and hold the multi-
control (Up/Down) button for more
than 1 second.
Multi-control (Up) button:
Press lightly: Low-speed (x20-speed
equivalent) fast reverse.
Press deeply: High-speed (x50-speed
equivalent) fast reverse.
Multi-control (Down) button:
Press lightly: Low-speed (x20-speed
equivalent) fast forward.
Press deeply: High-speed (x50-speed
equivalent) fast forward.
Multi-control (Up) button:
Pressing the multi-control (Up) button im-
mediately after the start of playback of
audio data (while the track count is be-
tween 0:00 and 0:02) skips to the begin-
ning of the previous track.
Pressing the multi-control (Up) button in
the middle of playback (while the track
count is 0:03 or after) skips to the begin-
ning of the current audio data.
Multi-control (Down) button:
Pressing this button to skip to the beginning
of the next audio data.
¶ Holding the multi-control (Up/Down)
button depressed during pause con-
tinues the skipping until the button is
released.
POINT :
Open the [MENU] view and select [SKIP+
FOLDER] to skip to the next item or select
[SKIP- FOLDER] to skip to the previous item.
Viewing the PDF INSTRUCTION

When the application software is installed in
the PC, the [PLAYER] and [Kenwood Media
Application] INSTRUCTION MANUAL are also
installed. The Adobe Reader for use in reading
these PDF files should be prepared separately.
These manuals are stored in the [Program Files]
\ [KENWOOD] \ [HD20GA7] \ [MANUAL], pro-
vided that the default installation destination is not
modified.

The recharging icon
(red) is appeared on the display during re-
charging of the battery. Recharging completes in about 2.5 hours.
When the battery has been recharged, the recharging completion icon
(green) is displayed on the display.
Every time the multi-control (Right) button is pressed, the selected
item switches in order of display language

When the PC is connected for the first time to the player,
the installer of the application software is launched automati-
cally. (The instruction manual and other required data are also
installed in the PC.)

Unpack the unit carefully and make sure that all the acces-

¶ Operation is not guaranteed on a PC assembled by the user.
Notes on recorded audio data
Even when the recorded audio data is destroyed or erased due to a trouble in
the player or the PC, KENWOOD will not assume any liabilities for the loss of
data or other associated damages (such as the expenses required to purchase
or obtain the music audio data).

After checking the audio data to be transferred with
marks,
click on the transfer button in the transfer panel.

Select the library or folder to be transferred by clicking
on it in the tree list.
The file list shows the audio data registered in the selected library or
playlist in the PC.

agree with the message, and click on [Next].

Preparation of audio data
To record the music CD data in the PC, use the Windows Media Player
or a similar application.

Press the multi-control (Right/Left) button to select the item to
be changed.
When the player is turned on for the first
time, the [INITIAL SETTINGS] view is dis-
played.

Select [Run the program], and click on [OK].
If the installer does not launch automatically:
Open the Explorer, etc., select [HD20GA7] and then double-
click on [
Install].
POINT:
÷ The displayed window is variable depending on the environment of your PC.
÷ For details, refer also to the instruction manual of your PC.
To install the application software, log in with the user having the
Administrator authority and be sure to exit from other running
applications.
The authority of Administrator is required to use Kenwood Media
Application.
