SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1.
The design of this product contains special hardware, many
circuit s and components specially for saf ety purposes. For
continued prot ection, no changes should be made to the original
design unless authorized in writing by the manufact urer.
Replacement parts must be ident ic al to thos e used in the original
circuit s. Service should be performed by qualif ied pers onnel
only.
2.
Alterations of t he design or circuitry of t he products should not be
made. Any design
alterat ions or additions will void the
manufact urer's warrant y and will f urther relieve t he manufacturer
of responsibility for personal injury or property damage result ing
therefrom.
3.
Many electrical and mechanical parts in the products have
special saf ety-relat ed characteristics. T hese charact eristics are
oft en not evident f rom visual inspection nor can t he protect ion
aff orded by them necessarily be obtained by using replacement
components rated f or higher voltage, watt age, etc. Replacement
parts whic h have these special s afet y charact erist ics are
identified
in the
parts list of Servic e manual.
El ectrical
components having su ch features ar e identi fi ed by shading
on the schematics and by (!
!
!
! ) on the parts list in Service
manual. The us e of a substitute replacement which does not
have the same saf ety charact erist ics as t he recommended
replac ement part shown in the parts list of Service manual may
cause shock, fire, or other hazards .
4.
Do n't shor t between the LIVE side ground and ISOL ATED
(NEUTRAL) side ground or EARTH side ground when
repairing.
Some model's power circuit is partly different in the GND. The
diff erenc e of the G ND is shown by the LIVE : (") side GND, the
ISO LATED(NEUTRAL) : (#) side G ND and EARTH : ($) side
GND.
Don't
short
bet ween
the
LIVE
side
GND
and
ISO LATED(NEUTRAL) side GND or EARTH side GND and
never measure wit h a measuring apparatus (oscilloscope etc.)
the LI VE side GND and ISOLATED(NEUTRAL) side G ND or
EARTH side GND at the s ame time.
If above not e will not be kept, a f use or any parts will be broken.
5.
If any repair has been made to the chassis, it is recommended
that t he B1 set ting should be checked or adjusted (See
ADJUSTMENT OF B1 POWER SUPPLY).
6.
The high voltage applied t o the picture tube must conform wit h
that specified in Service manual. Excessive high volt age can
cause an increase in X-Ray emission, arcing and possible
component damage, t herefore operation under excessive high
voltage conditions should be k ept to a minimum, or should be
prevent ed. If s evere arc ing occurs, remove t he AC power
immediately and determine the cause by visual inspect ion
(incorrect installat ion, cracked or melted high volt age harness,
poor soldering, et c.). To maint ain the proper minimum level of
sof t X-Ray emission, c omponents in the high voltage circuitry
including t he pict ure tube must be t he exact replacements or
alternat ives approved by the manuf act urer of the c omplet e
product.
7.
Do not c hec k high volt age by drawing an arc. Use a high volt age
meter or a high v oltage probe wit h a VTVM. Discharge the
picture tube before att empting meter connection, by c onnect ing
a clip lead to the ground f rame and c onnecting the other end of
the lead t hrough a 10k
2W resistor to the anode button.
8.
When service is required, observe the original lead dress. Extra
prec aut ion should be given t o assure correct lead dress in the
high voltage circuit area. W here a s hort circuit has occurred,
those component s that indicate evidence of overheating should
be replaced. Always use the manuf act urer's replacement
components.
9.
Isol ation Check
(Safety for Electrical Shock Hazard)
Af ter re-ass embling the product, always perf orm an isolat ion
check on the exposed metal parts of t he cabinet (antenna
terminals, video/audio input and output t erminals, Control knobs,
metal cabinet, screwheads, earphone jack, control shaf ts, etc.)
to be sure the product is s af e t o operate without danger of
elect rical shoc k.
(1) Di el ectric Strength Test
The isolation between the AC primary circuit and all metal parts
exposed t o the us er, particularly any expos ed met al part having a
return path to t he chass is should withs tand a volt age of 3000V
AC (r.m. s.) for a period of one sec ond.
(. . . . Wit hstand a volt age of 1100V AC (r.m. s.) t o an applianc e
rated up to 120V, and 3000V AC (r.m. s.) to an appliance rat ed
200V or more, f or a period of one second.)
This method of test requires a t est equipment not generally found
in t he servic e trade.
(2) Leakage Current Check
Plug the AC line c ord direct ly into the AC outlet (do not use a line
isolation transf ormer during this check.). Using a " Leakage
Current Tester", measure the leakage current f rom each exposed
metal part of the cabinet, part icularly any expos ed metal part
having a return path to t he chassis , t o a known good eart h
ground (water pipe, etc.). Any leakage current must not exceed
0.5mA AC (r.m.s.).
However, in tropic al area, this must not exceed 0.2mA AC
(r.m.s. ).
"
"
"
" Alternate Check Method
Plug the AC line c ord direct ly into the AC outlet (do not use a line
isolation transformer during t his check.). Use an AC volt meter
having 1000 ohms per volt or more sens it ivity in the following
manner. Connec t a 1500
10W res istor paralleled by a 0.15µF
AC-type c apacit or bet ween an exposed met al part and a known
good earth ground (water pipe, etc.). Meas ure the AC volt age
across the res ist or with the AC voltmeter. Move the resistor
connec tion to each exposed metal part, part icularly any exposed
metal part having a return pat h to t he chassis, and measure the
AC voltage ac ross the res ist or. Now, reverse the plug in the AC
outlet and repeat eac h measurement. Any volt age measured
must not exc eed 0.75V AC (r.m. s.).
This c orresponds to 0.5mA
AC (r.m. s.).
However, in tropical area, this must not exceed 0.3V AC ( r.m. s.).
This corresponds t o 0.2mA AC (r.m.s.).

HOW TO IDENTIFY MODELS
The difference between the model s with and without "SK" at the end of the model number is given below . Please refer to the
fol lowing li st for identificati on of the models.
Al though the number of the main cir cuit boards are written differently, the models are the same from the vi ewpoint of circuit.
